Research in this program incorporates a wide range of potential applications, including land, sea and air vehicles, as well as power generation and energy storage for soldiers.

General themes for defence vehicles include their increasing electrification and their need to operate cost-effectively, reliably and cleanly on different fuels. Further, vehicles and soldiers both need lighter weight and more efficient energy storage.

Current programs include studies into:

  • Air vehicle system integration, dynamics and control
  • Land vehicle system integration, dynamics and control
  • Advanced batteries
  • Advanced electric drives and power electronics
