Fiona Fletcher graduated with Honours in Applied Mathematics from the University of Adelaide. She has nearly 20 years’ experience in Defence Science, during which time she attained a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Melbourne. She has worked in various roles in the Defence Science and Technology Group, including time in both Maritime Division and National Security and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Division investigating tracking and sensor management algorithms for various sensor applications including radar and sonar systems. She spent more than 2 years based at RAAF Williamtown, NSW, as Staff Officer Science in the headquarters of Air Force’s Surveillance and Response Group. Most recently, she was Science Team Leader for Sonar Signal and Information Processing in Maritime Division.

She currently holds the position of Associate Director of the Defence Science Institute.
